Square Enix - wieder gehackt

Der nächste große Spieleentwickler ist Opfer eines Angriffs geworden. Bei Square Enix in Japan wurde ein für den Merchandise Store zuständiger Server gehackt, wer dafür verantwortlich ist, ist noch unklar. Scheinbar können sich selbst die großen Profis der Hacker nicht erwehren, wie der Sony-Skandal ja schon gezeigt hatte.

Aber auch Square Enix selbst war schon zwei mal im letzten Jahr gehackt worden, im Mai und im Dezember. Der erste Angriff galt Webseiten von Square Enix und es wurden Email-Adressen gemopst, der zweite betraf wie jetzt auch einen Server. Es wurden 1,8 Millionen Accounts als gefährdet eingestuft. Momentan ist der Server nicht erreichbar, ein Team von Spezialisten versucht alles zu sichern und überprüft im Detail was genau vorgefallen ist. Soviel sei aber sicher, Kundendaten oder Kreditkartennummern sind wohl keine gestohlen worden, weder aus den USA, noch aus Europa oder Japan. Vielleicht wäre es sinnvoll, sein Passwort zu erneuern. Und das nicht über die bald eintreffende Phishing-Mail ;)

Note to Customers

We have reason to believe that unknown parties have gained unauthorised access to a particular server which is located in Tokyo, Japan (“the Server”) and which contains customer data for the Official Square Enix Merchandise Store (the “Store”). No financial data for our European merchandising customers is stored on this Server. So far, we have established that the Server security was compromised, but at this point we have not identified any leak of our merchandising customer data.
 
The Server is only used to host the Store so no other Square Enix online services are affected. Access to the Store is suspended while we investigate further and will be restored when all security checks are complete. In the meantime, we would urge you to continue to be vigilant with your personal data and check all credit and bank statements for unusual activity in the coming months.
 
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused to our merchandising customers.
